The Admissions Process

Step up to the plate ladies and gentlemen!

Fair warning: our admissions process is unlike any other. We made it that way on purpose because we believe that everyone who wants to try should have the opportunity for quality education.

No Admissions Requirements

There are no admissions requirements for 42 such as grades, GPA, recommendations, ACT/SAT test scores, transcripts, etc. We strongly target ages 18-45, however.

Merit-Based Admissions

Our process means students are admitted based on merits as opposed to more traditional methods such as SATs, GPAs, ethnicity, background, and extracurricular activities.

Survive Basic Training

Our intensive basic training is part of the admissions process. Students have to pass basic training to be able to apply to the full 42 program.

If you’d like to check out the campus, learn more about our programs, and ask questions, then sign up for one of our virtual tours. We’ll take you on a short, live tour of our lab and share more about our mission, instructional design, and life on campus.

Your admission to 42 starts on our website at First step: register yourself by providing us with your email address and a cell phone number to validate your account. Next step: follow the procedures on a PC (hopefully one which has all of the most recent updates).

Once you’ve verified your account, you can sign up for one of our Intensive Basic Training sessions. These are part of the admissions process and are 4 weeks of intensive and immersive coding. No prior coding experience necessary at all! More info here.
